Damien was born in Lahinch, County Clare, Eire and grew up surfing the various different slabs and beach breaks around the county. He started surfing at the age of 12 and after 2 years began competing for the Irish team and has been on the senior team twice since.
When he was growing up he focused on surfing competitively which he still does but his main goal now is chasing big swells and pushing his surfing in bigger waves and slabs. At the age of 19 he stopped surfing regularly to attend college and he lost interest in the pursuit of waves, but since he has finished his studies the love of surfing has returned and he's keener than ever to surf the biggest and craziest waves he can find.
His future aim is to chase the biggest swells and both paddle and tow surf under the Cliffs of Moher. He also hopes for good results in the Irish Nationals and hopes to make the Irish senior team again.
