” Goodbye to 2014 and welcome 2015 to what I hope will be an amazing year for everyone. For all the non-surfers out there why not make this year your year to give surfing a go? There are so many products available now to add some real comfort and style to your surfing too from super warm changing robes to great little gadgets to protect and maintain the condition of your equipment – there’s really no excuses!
For me December was a great end to a fantastic year! The start of the month saw me shying away from the cold weather and enjoying an indoor photoshoot with Staple Photography, but I can’t stay inside for long and even though the surf was pretty diverse in Cornwall during December, big and messy on some days and small and clean on others I did manage to find some time to brave the cold weather and sneak in a few surfs. The small and cleaner days were perfect for logging and it was a nice change to get to surf with my sister and have a mess around trying out some tricks!
Another fun day was the annual Santa Surf Competition held at Fistral Beach raising money for the Joe Way Group. The challenge was to wear a full Santa suit whilst trying to catch some waves on a swellie!! I have to be honest and say this was one of the funniest ways to surf as the outfit was soaking up the water and was making it virtually impossible to paddle out and stand up without losing your balance. This competition was all about having a bit of fun and bringing surfers of all ages and abilities together to raise money for a good cause. I was so surprised when I managed to pick up a 3rd in the finals and won some great little prizes – what a lovely way to end the day! One of the BEST things though about coming out of the really cold surf is taking a nice hot shower and relaxing with a cuppa – especially when its in my favourite Northcore mug!! “
