Northcore road tests the Nomad teardrop trailer

We’re always keen to see new products that fit with the outdoor lifestyle. So, when we discovered the Nomad teardrop camping trailer being made by a new company near Northcore HQ, we had to try one out!

What is the Nomad teardrop camping trailer?

Nomad trailers are a US-style teardrop camping trailer. With rugged construction and extra large wheels, this pod comfortably gets off road  and provides a fantastic comfortable base and sleeping pod.  At 650kg it is light enough to be towed without any special licence.  This means anyone with a full drivers licence can hook it up and get out on the road. Think luxury camping on wheels!

The set up

The lowdown.

The open galley at the rear has a two-ring hob, sink, water tank and space for a cool-box. An electric powered cool-box can be installed, but the one we tried had the amazing Yeti™ which can keep things chilled for up to 5 days.  Although supplied with hook-up, the leisure battery is also charged while in transit so you can ‘survive’ for days without direct supply.

The sleeping pod comes equipped with a Vango queen size mattress and has a 13amp socket, plus USB charging points. Perfect for relaxing with your choice of films or music on your laptop in the evening.  Essentially all you need to add is cutlery, plates, food and bedding!

The view

There’s options for board storage, awning or a trailer-top tent as the roof rack is included. This could easily sleep up to 4 people if used with a trailer top tent (or 5 with children). Portable showers are also available, making it easy to take this trailer out for a longer trip. However, as these are built to order, you can discuss any ideas you have to customise it – including your own artwork on the side panels.
